Mile High Down Syndrome Association wants EVERYONE to…

  • See people with Down syndrome as PEOPLE FIRST - and their disability second - or third - or not at all!
  • Get to KNOW someone with Down syndrome!
  • See the things we have IN COMMON rather than what makes us different!
  • Find creative ways to INCLUDE people with Down syndrome in our school and community!
  • Replace negative words with POSITIVE WORDS so not to perpetuate stereotypes!
  • Highlight the STRENGTHS of people with Down syndrome rather than focusing on their challenges!
  • STICK UP for people with disabilities whenever we get the chance!
  • Take the time to LISTEN and LEARN from people with Down syndrome!
  • Make our schools and communities more inclusive, inviting places for EVERYONE!

The mission of Mile High Down Syndrome Association is to assure inclusion and enhance independence of people with Down syndrome. We will achieve this by providing education, resources and support in partnership with individuals, families, professionals and the community.

A society where all members are valued for their uniqueness, respected for their contribution, and assured the opportunity and choice to create their own path to fulfillment and success.
