SAMPLE SERVICE PROJECTS

OK, be as CREATIVE as possible when it comes to your fundraising projects and ways to increase awareness and acceptance of students with Down syndrome in our communities. These suggestions are just a way to get you thinking, but we’re most excited to see what YOUR CLUB comes up with!!

Bake sale, Rice Krispies squares with “R U Down 4 Change?” written on them in icing.
Pay it forward.
Car wash.
Get sponsored to volunteer at MHDSA events (and get to meet a bunch of really cute kids with Down syndrome, including BABIES! They are way too cute!)
Design and purchase t-shirts for your team with your club name and “We’re Down for Change!”.
Get people to donate toward purchasing books about Down syndrome for your school library. (We can provide suggestions for books.)
Get people to pay $2 and sign a pledge to ban the "R" word from their vocabularies.
Charge students 25 cents for saying the "R" word; charge teachers and parents $1; but be good natured about it – it’s all about awareness.
Ask your family, friends and community leaders to make donations. Tell them that you want your club to affect the most change in your community for people with Down syndrome, and that you want to make the most money so you can win the grand prize: VIP treatment at the concert!!
Put up the posters and hand out stickers (that we provide) around the school and community to get people asking what “Down for Change” is all about!

Contact info@mhdsa.org or 303-797-1699 with any questions and to GET EXCITED!
